Oh Summer, where have you gone?

I can't believe the summer is almost over! It seems like school just ended, and now I have a less than a month before it begins. I have one word for that: UGH! But I have done lots and lots of fun things! I've gone to the lake, met a cute boy, worked, went home for the 4th of July, worked some more, seen the epic end of the Harry Potter series, I'm going to California in a few weeks, I've gone hiking and caving and oh, I worked some more! Oodles of fun.
There are going to be some big changes happening soon...my sweet little baby sister is turning 16!! Ahhh so crazy, (ps I already bought her the most amazing present ever) :) Oh, and two of my best friends decided they are going to get married, no big deal... :) I can't wait to be a bridesmaid twice!!! :) My family also just bought a house and is moving, so when I go home, it won't be home, well it will be a house, where my family lives, but weird. I'm excited though, but only because I still have a room to go home to and my mommy is still there waiting for me. :) My sister Laura also just had a baby a month ago, Lilian Page. Precious little girl. And Amber is due in less than two months. Crazy, the first sister to have a boy. Beef Jr. we call him :)
I decided I can't wait until I am finished with school, and I never have to dread the fall. I don't care what people say, the working life is great, school life, not so much. Especially when you love what you do.
This post is super random and boring. But that is how my summer has been. :) And I wouldn't have it any other way. So off in my future I see lots of school fees, new roommates, textbooks, hours of studying, more work, school parties, football games, all-nighters for tests, and many more college experiences. So bring it on Fall. :)

we laugh, we cry, we make time fly. best friends are we, my sisters and me

this post is dedicated to my family. I have been missing them like crazy lately and have been thinking a lot about them and I get to see most of them in a week.

My sisters are my eternal best friends. I love them so much and I am who I am because I copied them and followed them around for years. :) Growing up in a house with 4 sisters and a mom can be a lot of estrogen for such small quarters, but somehow we all made it out alive. Amber, Katie, Laura, and Cami. I know I can always count on them, even if we annoy each other sometimes (I'm usually the annoying one ;)). But now that we are all growing up, getting married, having children, and moving away (in random order for each child), we get along much better, and enjoy our time together. Our yearly girl's trip is always a blast, and our meeting spot, Snowflake, finds us playing games together and talking through all hours of the night. And all of this would not be complete without our lovely mother tagging along and being the peacemaker. She says she loves being with us because we entertain her, and who needs tv with us around? :) She loves to laugh and gets a kick out of us. I love all of these special women so much, and I always am counting down until the next time I get to see them. (5 days for Katie and Cami, 11 for the rest of them) :) It is the most amazing feeling in the world to know there is not one, but FIVE people I can count on and who know just what to say and always make me feel better and loved.

the night shift

So once upon a time all of my cool friends were making blogs. So I thought "hmmm that's cool, but I have no time for that." But I finally figured how I am going to have time to have one!! The nights I don't work night shift I can't sleep anyways, so I might as well make a blog, who cares if it's after three in the morning? (its 3:36 am right now, just for the record) Which brings us to the title of my blog "sunshine for the nighttime" I asked Lauren what I should name my blog and she said "make it something about being happy or sunshine, because you are always happy" So this is what we came up with and this is my story:
I am 18 years old, for the summer I working two full-time jobs as a CNA (most of the time at night), I babysit for a family of five 2-4 times a week, I tutor a 4th grader twice a week, I have three church callings, and somewhere in between all of that I find time to sleep. And how exactly do I accomplish all of this without dying or passing out? Lots of Diet Dr. Pepper, amazing roommates that bring me my soda and keep quiet while I sleep during the day, more Diet Dr. Pepper, and lots of random naps, in random places in my apartment, at random times all throughout the day.
For those who have never worked a night shift before this is how it goes:
6pm-go to work
10pm-take a 15minute break (soda refill)
2am-30 minute "lunch" break (another refill)
6am-clock out and go home
6:15am-shower and get ready for bed
7am-climb in bed and set alarm for noon so I can be back at work at 2
9am-garbage truck come to empty dumpster which happen to be 20 feet from my window...waking me up
10am-maintenance knock and announces they will be coming in.....waking me up
10:15am-they go out and get something they forgot and re-announce entrance, 3 times.....waking me up
10:45am-cleaning lady comes for new move in and starts vacuuming away...waking me up
11am-my wonderful mother calls
11:05am-work calls asking me to pick up a night shift, making it a double....waking me up
11:15am-owner of apartments comes in to decide where he wants to hang new pictures...waking me up
1pm-I wake up and get ready for work
2pm-Soda refill then back to work for 16 hours and I won't get off until 6am with at least 4 refills in between.
Total hours of sleep: 3 1/2
                           Night Shift: 1     Erin: 0

About Me

My photo
St. George, Utah, United States
I am a young college girl away from home. I love summer, soda, and sleeping. My family, my church, and my friends are my life. I am a morning person, and a night owl. I have a ton of siblings, so I'll save you the confusion and mention them randomly in my posts sometimes. Two of my favorite people in the world are my mother and my grandmother, they are my heroes and I hope to be just like them one day. I love life, even the tough decisions that scare me to death.
